What is panzyga®?

Panzyga® is a high purity 10% human normal immunoglobulin solution for intravenous infusion (IVIg) and is the result of more than 40 years of Octapharma fractionation experience using state-of-the-art manufacturing processes.

What is panzyga® indicated for?

Panzyga® has approved indications for IgG replacement therapy in PID, SID and for immune modulation in ITP, GBS, Kawasaki, CIDP and MMN. Please refer to this page to learn more.

What are the contraindications for receiving treatment with panzyga®?

Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the active substance (human immunoglobulins) or to any of the excipients. In addition, patients with selective immunoglobulin (Ig) A deficiency who developed antibodies to IgA, as administering an IgA-containing product can result in anaphylaxis. Please always refer to the Summary of Product Characteristics for full prescribing information. Section 4.3 of the Summary of product Characteristics describes the possible contraindications with panzyga®.

What possible drug interactions with panzyga® have been identified?

Possible drug interactions may occur with live attenuated virus vaccines and loop diuretics. Please always refer to the Summary of product Characteristics for full prescribing information. Section 4.5 of the Summary of Product Characteristics describes interactions with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions.

Does panzyga® contain sucrose or maltose?

No, panzyga® does not contain sucrose or maltose. Glycine is used as stabilizer instead of sucrose or maltose.

What is the infusion rate of panzyga®?

It is recommended to start at 0.6 mL/kg/hr for 30 min to max of 4.8 mL/kg/hr or 8.4 mL/kg/hr in PID patients. Panzyga® allows for fast infusion rates without compromising tolerability. In case of adverse reaction, either the infusion rate should be reduced or the infusion stopped. How long does it take to infuse panzyga®?

The time taken to infuse panzyga® depends on the specified infusion rate, the dose, and the weight of the patient. It is usually highly patient specific.
